Governance
SSC-NG’s initial governance is provided by the Preliminary Governing Council (PGC): current SSC contributors, members with experience in other statistical-software communities, and international members, including SSC’s current maintainer. The PGC is chartered to define the future governance of contributions to SSC and, within its first year, to define a successor self-perpetuating council (see the Development Plan, Task 1).

Council Member Bios
Lars Vilhuber (PGC Coordinator, Cornell University) — Coordinates the work of the Preliminary Governing Council (PGC), hires programmers and student assistants, and is the point person for the work plan activities.
Christopher F. Baum (Ex-Officio Member, Boston College) — Founder and current maintainer of SSC, and a prolific package author (103 packages), ranked fourth by overall downloads. Recipient of the American Economic Association Distinguished Service Award. Brings deep insight into the history and structure of Stata packages, with a strong emphasis on continuity.
Sergio Correia (Member, Federal Reserve Board) — Economist with over a decade of experience in applied econometrics, banking, and economic history. Author of Stata packages among the current top ten by downloads, including the top downloaded statistical package. Has contributed to SSC for over a decade.
Mauricio Caceres Bravo (Member, Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business) — Assistant professor, formerly of Brown University. Developer of gtools and current maintainer of the Stata kernel for Jupyter (stata_kernel).
Stephanie Hicks (Member, Johns Hopkins University) — Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Biostatistics. Associate editor for reproducibility at JASA, co-founder of R-Ladies Baltimore, and former member of the Bioconductor technical advisory board.
Hua Peng (Observer, StataCorp LLC) — Executive Director, Software Engineering and Data Science at StataCorp. Primary architect and developer of Stata/MP. Represents StataCorp on the PGC.
